Team members who wish to take leave due to the death of an immediate family member should notify their supervisor immediately. All team members are eligible for this leave.
An eligible team member is permitted to use up to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave when a team member’s absence is required due to the death of a member of the team member’s immediate family to arrange and attend the funeral and conduct related matters.
For the purpose of bereavement leave, the Company defines "immediate family" as the team member's spouse, registered domestic partner, parent, sibling, child, current parent-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild. A registered domestic partner means a domestic partner who is registered in accordance with state law.
Bereavement leave pay is calculated based on the base pay rate at the time of absence and will not include any special forms of compensation, such as incentives, or shift differentials or overtime calculation. Part-time team members are eligible for the number of hours they normally work on a shift.
Bereavement leave will normally be granted unless there are unusual business needs or staffing requirements. Team members may, with their supervisors' approval, use accrued and available paid vacation or sick leave for additional leave as necessary. Any leave request must be submitted by the team member via the time keeping system as soon as reasonably possible.
